HMK Class Safety

HMK holds a national class position in vehicle safety. The purpose of HMK`s work on safety is partly to prevent accidents and partly to minimize the consequences if an accident is inevitable. The most important preventive safety measures include good driving characteristics. By using buses with reinforced bodies, safety belts and protective interiors, the risk of injury to passengers in a collision is reduced.

The cornerstones of H.M.K.`s work on safety consist of driving (active), collision (passive) and fire safety. Buses are one of the safest forms of transport available. Several attitude surveys have also shown that customers rank HMK highly in terms of safety.

Some of H.M.K.'s safety objectives are:

• Develop products that are reliable and safe in the real traffic environment related to driving and collision safety and security (including fire safety).
• Co-operate with bodybuilders and other partners as well as customers and authorities
• Work for an increased understanding of traffic safety issues, both internally and externally
• Stand out as the best alternative for safe and secure transportation for passengers, companies and travel agencies.

Driving environment and assistance

A bus driver is not just responsible for his own safety but also for that of his passengers and other road users. The driver therefore plays a central role in preventive safety work at HMK With a combination of good driving characteristics, good road-holding, effective brakes and a good driver's environment, the driver is able to relax and work efficiently and safely. An ergonomically designed workplace with a high level of comfort, correctly positioned controls and instruments, a pleasant climate and a good view means that the driver can remain vigilant and alert throughout his shift.

In order to minimize the consequences if an accident is inevitable despite everything, H.M.K.`s buses are designed to minimize the risk of injury to driver and passengers.

HMK Class Environment

All H.M.K. buses are equipped with environment-friendly Euro engines, making H.M.K. the largest environment-friendly bus operator in Oslo. All new buses are equipped with the Euro IV & V engines.
